Monument in Dinalupihan to the Fight at Layac Junction January 2 to January 6 1942. Here Philippine and American troops delayed the advance of the Japanese Philippine Expedition. Jose Calugas was a hero in the battle and the U.S. Congress awarded him the Medal of Honor. This battle is also celebrated in one of the reliefs at the national shrine on Mt. Samat
