The city government of Balanga had established a partnership with businessmen to be able to continue the scholarship projects. There were 40 business tycoons who assured monetary support for the City’s project named Balanga University Town Foundation (BUTF). The foundation will contribute to the P24M fund for the 2,000 scholars.

According to City administrator Rudy De Mesa, the partnership of the city government and some establishments will bring investment to BUTF. He further explained, the invested amount from the incorporators will not be dissolved because only the interest that will be earned from the invested amount will be utilized by the government.

For instance, if the initial investment is P1 million 9.6% will be earned and will be allotted to the scholarship project. The incorporators include Crown Royale Hotel owner Oscar Banzon, former Balanga Vice-Mayor Celso Valdecañas, Lou-is Restaurant owner Dr. Ismael and Luisa Atienza, Metrobank president Jun Dispo and Smart president Rolando Bea.

Balanga City Schools Division Supt. Rolando Pozon explained that high school graduates can avail of the scholarship grant for their tertiary education. BUTF will be registered in SEC (Securities and Exchange Commission) after the by-laws have been finalized for the start of their operation this year.
