The Philippine National Police (PNP)-Bataan conducted tree-planting along the foot of the historic Mt. Samat shrine. Their goal is to help protect and maintain the forests in the province of Bataan. They are aiming to contribute in the campaign of saving the environment from further deprivation. Tree-planting was done in the mountainous area of Batangas 3, Barangay Liyang, Pilar town. Policemen of Bataan Police Provincial Office carried their shovels, rake and other tools as they participated in the event. They had planted 150 seedlings of mango and 18 seedlings of eucalyptus trees.

According to the agriculturists, a mango tree will be growing in five or seven years. The eucalyptus tree will be grown in 10 to 15 years. According to Bataan police chief Senior Supt. Arnold Gunnacao, the activity will encourage the people of Bataan to join hands in the campaign against illegal logging. He added that Bataan PNP is also keeping an eye to illegal loggers to avoid reforestation. [via mb.com.ph]
