To enable Subic Freeport to accommodate new investment, the town of Hermosa in Bataan offered some 400 hectares flat land.

According to Mayor Danilo Malana of Hermosa, Bataan inclusion of some of its areas should help the second-class municipality develop its industries.

Mayor Malana supported the Aquino government to guarantee the efficient implementation of Executive Order (EO) No. 675, which provides for the development of "additional secured areas" under the supervision of the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA).

He said that that his municipality offered the land at Sitio Mabiga in Barangay Tiposince it is about 10 minutes drive from Subic Freeport, which is ideal for the projected extension area of the Subic Bay Freeport.

All the local community leaders of Hermosa are open to the implementation of EO 675, since it is expected to help the town of Hermosa to become an industrialized municipality.

Meanwhile, SBMA Administrator Armand C. Arreza said that since there are no available flat lands in Olongapo City, the town of Hermosa is the ideal expansion site for the Subic Bay Freeport.

If Hermosa can be declared as an extension of the Subic Freeport, travel time will be shorter if an exit road right in the proposed extension area is opened. It is also expected to more job opportunities to all Bataeños. [via]
