With the constant efforts of iSchools Training Component to regulate guidelines that manage the conduct of its numerous ICT training activities, a User's Manual on ICT literacy will be soon be available for public high school teachers to help out have an orderly and systematic ICT Literacy training.

The releasing of the said manual is the outcome of the workshop outputs of participants to the ICT Literacy Conference for Teachers held at the Crown Royale Hotel in the City of Balanga, Bataan last July 2 to 5, 2010. Bataan Peninsula State University, a staunch State University and College (SUC) partner of the iSchools Project, hosted the activity.

The seminar, which was attended by at least 218 participants from different public high schools that are SUC’s partner, aims to assist teachers make and discuss lessons on the basics of computer and internet operations using stable Free and Open Source Software.

Some of the lessons tackled are: creating school profiles using impress, creating class records with grade computation using calc, creating enrolment reports using calc and basic computer operations: an introductory course using ubuntu 10.4.

These lessons will also be part of the initial lessons of the planned user's manual. Other lessons will also be released as soon as it’s completed.

Project Manager Toni Torres of iSchools said that this is just a simple step to let teachers value the convenience ICT brings to their daily functions as educators and classroom administrators. [via pia.gov.ph]
