Teachers as potent factors in the teaching-learning process must be effective. To become an effective mentors, she needs to equip herself with enough knowledge, skills, potentials and values. The more skills, knowledge and good values a teacher possesses, the more effective she will be. As mentors, teachers must have skills in managing her class. She must excel in classroom management. These includes skills in pupil discipline and behavior, organizing classroom settings, time management and planning the day to day activities in her class. Her motivational skill is also needed. To inspire and motivate her pupils to regularly attend their classes and to listen attentively during discussions is a big challenge to teachers. Teachers will also be an effective mentor if she knows how to apply different teaching strategies in teaching especially in tool subjects like English, Science, Math and Filipino. There must be varied teaching approaches to be applied in each subject area so as to make the teaching-learning situation enjoyable. Effective teachers are innovative. They are open and always willing to enhance their skills to meet the demand of the modern times and to satisfy the needs of her learners. --- Mrs. Ofelia Cabritit Teacher II Orion Elem School - Orion District |
