Corregidor Island Transportation

According to Lt. Geronimo B. Tuvilla, station (Bataan and Corregidor Island) commander of Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), about 11,000 tourists both foreign and local had visited the historic Corregidor Island using this small but strategic port located in Mariveles, Bataan. Tuvilla explained that tourists prefer to take the launching pad in Mariveles because this is the bordering port going to Corregidor Island.

The tourists need to travel 3 nautical miles away (20 to 30 minutes) from Cabcaben Port to the Island. That is more comfortable and safe on their part whereas if they were in Cavite, it will take 7 nautical miles away. The visitors became inquisitive of the affluent historical background of Cabcaben Port. We are aware that it became the barracks and station of the Spanish soldiers and the Corregidor Island was a part of Bataan during that era. [via ph.news.yahoo.com]
