In the International Symposium on Machinery and Mechatronics for Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering, state agriculture researchers said that Japanese farmers produce high yields even in small farms with the use of efficient mechanized agricultural production.According to Reynan Calderon, based agriculture scientist of Bataan Peninsula State University (BPSU), Japan continues to improve their efficient agricultural production through precision agriculture. Farmers in Japan use machines in planting and harvesting crops even in minimal landholdings, unlike in the Philippines, where in Filipino farmers are suing man-animal labor to carry specific tasks. In addition, Japan farmers are also using different kinds of new techniques in farming such as using greenhouses to plant crops and vegetables and utilizing energy efficient light emitting diodes (LED), which is attached to the sensors. Other speakers from Korea, Taiwan and Japan, who are also present in the conference, share the national policies on food security of their countries, including innovations in agriculture technology. With this kind of conference, Filipino agriculture scientists could share what the Philippines have in agriculture technology and at the same time they could also learn advances in agriculture that could help Filipino farmers to increase production.
