Bikers Go Back Over the Death March Track |

With a theme Alay Sikad sa Kagitingan, hundreds of bikers from different the different provinces go over back the actual 97-kilometer route of the 1942 Death March.The bike-a-thon is part of part of the activities slated in preparation for the upcoming Philippine Veterans Week from April 5-11. The said activity had a relay format wherein participants had the preference to start in any of the five stations. Station 1 and Starting Line was in the OKM Death March Marker in Mariveles, Bataan while Station 2 started in Balanga City Plazuela. The town of Lubao and the City of San Fernando in Pampanga served as Stations 3 and 4 respectively. On the other hand, Tarlac played host to Station 5 (Bamban) and the Finish line-Capas National Shrine.
This is to commemorate the hardships and sufferings of around 75,000 Filipino and American soldiers who were forcibly marched by the Japanese troops for five to six days with no food and a single sip of water. Every year from April 5-11 is declared as Philippine Veterans Week where in the government is providing different activities to honor our soldiers.
