Anvaya Cove, which is one of Ayala Land's premier residential communities in Morong, Bataan, now opens its door for the biggest clams with an optimism of preserving this highly threatened species for the next generation. The clam-seeding event was the maiden project of Anvaya Environmental Foundation Inc. The said project aims to save the Tridacna gigas, or giant clams, right within Anvaya's shores. The giant clams came all the way from University of the Philippines Marine Science Institute in Bolinao, Pangasinan, where they were successfully cultured from a few hundreds to the 37,000 clams thriving today. Seventy-nine clams were brought to Anvaya, where they were given tags, measured and carefully settled by scuba divers on the seafloor a short distance from the coast.
President Jaime Ayala of Ayala Land led the symbolic turnover of the clams from the foundation to the local community. He said in his speech that these clams have a very vital role in the ecosystem. Anvaya Cove decided to be part of this clam-seeding project to help in educating its future residents and guests about giant clams and to instil awareness to those who would partake of Anvaya's paradisiacal waters.
