The road towards attaining educational progress lies in the hand of a great teacher. Every teacher envisioned the development of his students and she wants them to be productive, successful and good members of our society. Thus, being facilitators of learning or being a teacher has many challenges, more so if a teacher was assigned to handle combination or Multigrade classes. An MGT or a Multigrade teacher is hereby defined as public school teacher handling a class of two or more grades. She is usually assigned in areas where the number of enrollees for each grade level does not warrant the opening of single grade class. Classes are those which have the combination of pupils of different ages and abilities in one classroom and pupils are self-directed learners who are able to sustain interest in the activity or task at hand and does not rely heavily on adult encouragement and supervision in order to finish a task. Handling this kind of class brought challenges to an MG Teacher because it requires more preparation of learning materials. It requires more careful study or learners developmental characteristics across the age levels involves in the class. It requires more investment in organization of the classroom as learning environment and a more meticulous and systematic record-keeping to keep track of student progress is needed. But although it requires heavy loads to teachers, being an MG teacher opens more opportunities for varied experiences inside the classroom that truly inspires an educator like me. Mrs. Gemma V.
