Virgilo G. De Jesus harvests about 110 cavans of palay per hectare every cropping season from his 2.5 hectares farm in Sitio Maluya in Barangay Cupang Proper in the city of Balanga.

This is due to the idea introduced by his enterprising wife, Estrella, three years ago. The idea of increasing moreover the income of their farm by means of piggery and poultry which were built on a part of their farm. By means of the animal manure which drains inti a canal serving as channel to the field, their poultry and piggery help make the soil in the farm more fertile, producing bountiful harvests.

There is no need to buy commercial fertilizers as their farm has gradually changed to being organic and is now nearly entirely free from utilizing commercial fertilizers.

A 50 kilogram bag of complete fertilizer costs P 1,080. There are big  savings produced from no longer buying commercial fertilizers.

To have bountiful harvests and big savings, rice farmers are requested to go organic. We must use manure fertilizer to make soil produce more plant.
