The Buntis congress is a project of the municipal health office of Mariveles in the province of Bataan under Doctor Danilo Velasco, the municipal health physician. By this time on its third year, the congress attempted to promote maternal and child health care. However, a Buntis congress was matched last Saturday with something equal or better. A Buntis Pageant, where IS women carrying unborn offspring took part at the Mariveles People's Park in the poblacion, matched a Buntis congress. The candidates carrying unborn offspring in their wombs presented themselves on stage by dancing and introducing themselves to the judges. The judges were obstetricians, health physicians, personnel officer Mary Adolfo, Mariveles Mayor Jessie Concepcion and his wife, Doctor Cleotilde Concepcion, et cetera. A pageant is a grand public display done with great skill and grace. In this Buntis Pageant, one candidate indeed expressed her opinion that being a mother is similar to being a hero. Being a mother is sacrificing herself by carrying unborn offspring in her uterus through the period of nine months, that is equivalent to approximately 1 percent of her life. [Via The Manila Times] |
