The 19th annual Bataan Memorial Death March begins at White Sands Missile Range, New Mexico on March 30. This march is directed in reputation of the courageous defenders of the Philippine Islands throughout the duration of the Second World War.Greater than 4,000 marchers are expected to join the difficult journey along hot, open desert of White Sands, with attitudes of up to 5,300 feet on trails and washes. There are the 26.2-mile green route as well as the 15.2-mile blue route. The top two finishers in each of the six categories of marchers in the green route will be given awards. The marchers of the 26.2 miles will experience partly what soldiers suffered throughout the course of death march in the Philippines. The marchers who want to memorialize the death march in Bataan, but do not want to complete the 26.2-mile route must travel the 15.2-mile blue route. Those who live in the vicinity of White Sands Missile Range, New Mexico and want to preserve the memory of the death march in Bataan have now the chance to participate in Bataan Memorial Death March to be held on March 30.
