A petrochemical feedstock facilities of the Philippine oil refinery Petron Corp were recently set up for use and will begin performing their functions in February 2008. The facilities are portion of Petron's US$300 million project to make greater the ratio pf the useful energy delivered by a machine to the energy supplied to it. It is the Petron's 180,000 barrel per day refinery in Limay, Bataan.One of the facilities is given a name Petro Fluidized Catalytic Cracker. Its function is to change black product like fuel oil into white products such as diesel, gasoline and liquefied petroleum gas. It has a conversion volume of 19,000 barrels per day. The extraction pf the petrochemical feedstock propylene is the function of another facility at a capacity of 140,000 metric tons yearly, while the production of aromatics like benzene and toluene is the particular purpose of the third facility. Facilities increase efficiency and make life easier. They are the products of science and technology that facilitate life. |
