The Bataan Economic Zone, formerly Bataan Export Processing Zone, is the very first economic zone in the Philippines. This zone is set for a prosperous future, but the development of economic zone is very slow because of several factors producing a usually deleterious effect upon the smooth processes in the economic zone. Is there a need for the immediate conversion of the Bataan Economic Zone (BEZ) into what Congressman Albert S. Garcia of the second district of Bataan called Bataan Special Economic Zone and Freeport (BSEZF)?There must be reparation and maintenance of the roads, restoration and remodelation of the buildings, construction of other infrastructures, and development and broadening in scope of the communications and telecommunications system. Benefits should be granted to the propective locators to attract them. Among these benefits are accelerated depreciation, capital-equipment incentives, and income tax holidays (ITH). Must House Bill No. 1425 be pushed by the members of the congress? [Via Manila Bulletin] |
