Moriones, Kidapawan, Durian, Flower and Sinulog are just some of the many festivals that we Filipinos celebrate. There is never a doubt that Filipinos love festivities and gatherings and the townsfolk of Orani is a proof for that. Adding up to the growing list of festivals in our country is the "Alimango and Sugpo Festival". Although the town celebrates the feast almost every year to give thanks to the town’s patron saint, the Nuestra Señora Del Rosario, there is no given name to the said feast. But unlike any other fiesta, the town of Orani celebrates their fiesta with a bang. A weeklong celebration was held every night on the town plaza, featuring different kinds of shows. From Battle of the Bands, to the presentation of different schools in the town, to the search for the next Bb.Orani, to the melodious sound of the serenata and Harana kay Maria, up to the all night Mardigras celebration. You can never go wrong. All night was a night of celebration. And when the second Sunday of October came, it’s up for you to decide on whose house to begin. The fiesta in Orani is considered as the longest festival celebration in Bataan. It starts on the last the week of September and the main festivity is on the second Sunday of October. Last year, through the joint hands of the people of Orani and the huge effort of the Fiesta Committee, the dream of having the annual Alimango and Sugpo Festival was declared official. And this year, last October 14, was the second year of the Alimango and Sugpo Festival. There is no doubt that Orani was making a name on the map. And maybe someday, the other towns in Bataan will be included in the list of great celebration. |
