Mariveles wants to be a component city

Local officials on Friday expressed confidence that their bid to convert this coastal town into a component city will inch closer to reality when the municipal government receives its share of P140 million from the Bataan Shipyard and Engineering Co.

While action filled the streets of Metro Manila Friday to mark the 20th anniversary of People Power 1, it was business as usual in Bataan.   

Students, workers, market vendors, jeepney and bus drivers moved around doing their usual chores, unmindful of what was happening in Manila.

Following the infotext scheme via Globe TM, one more modern tool tagged as the Broadband over Power Line (BPL) will touch the line of PENELCO towards consumers' advancement, as co-op's another value added service (VAS).

Broadband over  Power Lines  (BPL), refers to the new technology of using the 20, 30 or even 40 year old electrical wires for internet connection. Using conventional convenience outlets found basically in every house and a plug-in device to connect to the internet. Pretty smart don't you think? Still on its test phase, BPL promises to open a lot of door for new opportunities and a window for urbanization. PENELCO will be the second electric cooperative in the Philippines to deploy the test phase of the project. In this regard selected employees were sent to Capiz where the BPL was first deployed for a rigorous of the new technology.
 
Mariveles sub-port overshoots collection target

The Bureau of Customs here has reported that its sub-port has surpassed its collection target for January by 29 percent. Martiniano Bangcoy, Mariveles sub-port collector, said they collected P499,935,465 as against their target of P386,232,320 or an increase of P113,703,145.
