Indeed, Jose Palma was able to capture the esse of the archipelago with these words that he composed in 1899. And as one travels through Bataan, one cannot help but reflect that though a Manileño, the young soldier-poet was referring to this sublime and historical province who in the seas and mountains, through the air and azure skies, the soul of the country is valiantly etched. |

Who would have known that Bataan is a place of literary figures? As our history has recorded, few of the sons of Bataan have joined the collection of history books. Tomas Pinpin of Abucay and Cayetano Arellano of Orion are only the few people who have been a part of the history. But did you know that many of Bataan’s sons and daughters have taken part in making Bataan a land not only of brave people but also a land of literature and arts? Here are some of the literary figures from our province. |
