To meet future demands for new seafarers, International Mariners Management Association of Japan (IMMA-J) and the International Maritime Employers Committee Ltd. (Imec) want to increase the number of their scholars to about 1,000 in a maritime school in Bataan. Eduardo Ma. R. Santos, president of the Maritime Academy of Asia and the Pacific (MAAP), said that the two shipping companies are willing to help MAAP to spend more and further expand the campus to enable it to accept more cadets. |

To help relieve the rising number of applicants at the DFA (Department of Foreign Affairs) regional consular office in San Fernando City, the office has opened a satellite office under agreement with the Clark Development Corporation (CDC). The said satellite office is located at The Clark Center, Berthaphil Estate and is open from Mondays to Fridays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. |

Since menopausal women are prone to osteoporosis, cancer, cardiovascular diseases and weight problems, DOST (Depatment of Science and Technolgy) is advising menopausal women to have a healthy diet to reduce the risk of these diseases. In addition, menopausal women must have a combination of dietary changes, increased physical activity and weight loss. |

Mayor Joet Garcia announced recently that public school teachers can avail of a P5,000 grant plus a loan of P17,300 (i.e. zero interest). This subsidy and loan program will help the teachers to own a laptop computer. The city government's goal is to help teachers to improve and upgrade their teaching methods by means of having access to modernize and techie tools that will facilitate their audio-visual presentations. |

In the International Symposium on Machinery and Mechatronics for Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering, state agriculture researchers said that Japanese farmers produce high yields even in small farms with the use of efficient mechanized agricultural production. According to Reynan Calderon, based agriculture scientist of Bataan Peninsula State University (BPSU), Japan continues to improve their efficient agricultural production through precision agriculture. Farmers in Japan use machines in planting and harvesting crops even in minimal landholdings, unlike in the Philippines, where in Filipino farmers are suing man-animal labor to carry specific tasks.
