Tree Planting at Mt. Samat

The Philippine National Police (PNP)-Bataan conducted tree-planting along the foot of the historic Mt. Samat shrine. Their goal is to help protect and maintain the forests in the province of Bataan. They are aiming to contribute in the campaign of saving the environment from further deprivation.

Capitol Drive Will Be The New Tourist Destination Soon!

Being one of the busiest roads in the city, City of Balanga has set plans to widen the Capitol Drive by mid-year.

In a hearing held at Bulwagan II recently, Mayor Joet Garcia, city mayor of Balanga, informed the public that the widening shall be done mainly on the sidewalk and not really on the road. He also wards off all the worries of those who are concern about the environment and public utilities that may be affected by the project.

Pawikan Sanctuary in Limay, Bataan

Stirred by love for nature and environment and vision for the town to be a sanctuary to marine, Mayor Ver Roque publicized that a Pawikan Sanctuary will soon be established in Limay, Bataan as he led members of civil society and government officials in releasing pawikan or marine turtle hatchlings into the sea.

Balanga City reports income hike by P364M

According to Mayor Jose Enrique Garcia III, the revenue earned by our city last year had reached to P467 million. In 2001, the revenue is only P103 million. The income generated from tourist arrivals, improved peace and order situation, enhanced health facilities and programs, new investments and infrastructures. He also predicted that the income will increase to P923 million by 2020, the year when "University Town" program will be achieved.

Special Project for the Youth Started in Bataan

Thru the effort of Bishop Ruperto Santos, "Isang Snack Ko sa Isang Linggo, Isasakripisyo Ko para sa Iyo!" project launched on the first day of January 2011.

The said project will benefit the young people of Bataan. The project pushes for the youth to give up at least one snack a week and to donate the amount saved to help fund the social services projects of the Diocese of Balanga.

Hermosa, Bataan to Offer Flat Land for Subic Expansion

To enable Subic Freeport to accommodate new investment, the town of Hermosa in Bataan offered some 400 hectares flat land.

According to Mayor Danilo Malana of Hermosa, Bataan inclusion of some of its areas should help the second-class municipality develop its industries.

Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) is now in the process of project expansion. This activity will hold additional investments in industrial parks and other projects which include the town of Hermosa in Bataan.

According to SBMA Administrator Armand Arreza, the Executive Order No. 675 provides the expansion of additional secured areas that may be operated as special economic zones under the SBMA.

Villar's Foundation in Bataan

Sen. Manny Villar visited his hometown in Bataan where he led the events of the Villar Foundation. The yearly gift-giving tradition happened at his family's ancestral house on Rizal Street in Barangay Pacar, Orani. Curita Bamba Villar, senator Villar's mother, known to many as Nanay Curing is a resident of Orani. She was a daughter of a fisherman and a housemaid. Nanay Curing started selling fish in Bataan, which she continued in Divisoria market where the young Manny Villar used to help her.
