Bamboo or "kawayan" is a lasting woody which belongs to the family of grasses. The bamboo culm or pole is best use as inexpensive raw material for housing and construction, furniture, handicraft, banana props, fish pens, musical instruments, pulp and paper manufacture, and many more. Bamboos are planted typically in river banks and waterways to hold the soil to prevent soil erosion. Based from a research, bamboo can be propagated in different methods. To prove the study, Engr. Romualdo Sta. Ana, a bamboo expert, conducted training sessions at the 150-square nursery built for a planting stock of about 3,000 propagules. With this scenario, the Philippine government had recently launched the Engineered Bamboo or e-Bamboo Project.

The recent ninth China-Asean Expo (CAEXPO) held in Nanning, China created a business venture between Authority of the Freeport Area of Bataan (AFAB) and China. This event aims to promote closer cultural ties and trade relations among foreign VIPs from China, Phils., Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam. The Philippine delegates were led by Interior and Local Government Secretary Mar Roxas. |

Petron is currently expanding thru its multi-billion project which provided thousands of jobs to the people of Bataan. The Korean-based SB Construction and Water Treatment Corporation has a sub-contract with Daelim, a major contractor inside BRC (Bataan Petron Refinery).

The Bataan Hotel and Restaurant Owners’ Association (BHROA) and the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) will conduct as assessment that will help strengthen ties between food service establishments with local suppliers. DTI-Bataan Director Yay Lasam said DTI will find manufacturers and suppliers that will match the needs of food service establishments. This will eliminate the added costs when hiring a middleman. The partnership of BHROA and DTI will provide a list of micro, small and medium enterprises that will supply the needs of prospective food establishments.

A resolution recently passed by the Regional Development Council (RDC), a counterpart of National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) Board at the subnational level, which reminds DPWH to immediately prioritize the construction of Manila Bay-Cavite-Bataan Coastal Highway. This is one of the PPP projects of the government which is to be implemented in 2016.

The 5th Invitational Triathlon event is set to unravel on October 20 and 21. This will be held at the Anvaya Cove Beach and Nature Club in Morong, Bataan. The event commits in the preservation of the natural environment. Participants will compete in the following categories: (1.2 Km swim - 32 Km bike - 6 Km run), family relay and regular relay for ages 9 to 10 (200 M swim - 2 Km bike - 1 Km run), ages 11 to 12 (300 M swim - 4 Km bike - 2 Km run), ages 13 to 15 (400 M swim - 8 Km bike - 3 Km run) and SuperTriKids aquathlon races (for Saturday). The triathletes will compete in swimming at the beach, biking which will start in Morong and end at the paths of the ACBNC and running. |

The projected comprehensive tourism master plan includes the conversion of Mt. Samat Shrine into a tourist enterprise zone. Under a new law, Second District Representative Albert Garcia discussed the plan of conversion during the Strategic Planning Workshop for local government units at the Bataan Tourism Center.

Thru the initiative of the local government of Mariveles, a Community-Based Rehabilitation Program (CBRP) was established to take care of persons with disabilities (PWDs). According to Mariveles Mayor Jesse Concepcion, the municipality will provide additional fund to pursue with this program. They are aiming to equip the center with the necessary facilities and teaching resources. The program is named "Dong-In-Tulay" Center. The name was adopted from its investor, Korean Dong-In Group of Companies. The group provided the fund for the construction of the building. |
